- One of the teas richest in antioxidants and anthocyanins - Extremely difficult to find - Harvested in 2021 - Multiple infusions with the same leaves
SUN ROUGE BIO The richest Japanese green tea in antioxidants and anthocyanins Origin Japan, Tokunoshima island Harvested in April 2021 From organic farming Sun Rouge is a recently developed cultivar (2009), created by crossing two Japanese tea plants with the aim of growing leaves with a very high content of antioxidants and anthocyanins. The main characteristic of this tea is that it creates an almost dark infusion which turns red when a few drops of lemon are added, due to the reaction of the lemon's acidity with the anthocyanins, present in large quantities in this tea. This reminds us of the incredible color of the leaves of this tea plant: red! We are talking about a green tea that has recently appeared because it was created by naturally crossing two Japanese green tea plants to create a new cultivar, aimed at being very rich in antioxidants and anthocyanins. Two molecules that are often sought after today because they are capable of counteracting the degenerative action of oxygen and free radicals within our body. Green tea has always contained antioxidants, but Sun Rouge has many more. This was the conclusion of some studies conducted on the plants and on the infusion of Sun Rouge green tea. Like all plants rich in anthocyanins, the leaves of Sun Rouge tea take on a red-violet color that is striking (for those of us used to seeing green tea leaves) To take a look at the studies that have been conducted on this new green tea, you can consult them on researchgate, where an interesting comparison is made with the properties of a tea created from the Yabukita cultivar (one of the most used in Japan), Sun Rouge appears to be much richer, especially in anthocyanins. The properties of this tea are not limited to antioxidants but it seems that it can stimulate the activity of the immune system, reduce inflammation in our body, and increase its metabolism. In terms of properties, therefore, Sun Rouge turns out to be a very interesting tea for the combination it presents of caffeine, anthocyanins, and antioxidants. The interactions that are created enhance its beneficial effects. In addition, it is a very pleasant tea, with delicate herbaceous notes. As a good Japanese green tea can give. The taste of this tea is similar to the Japanese green teas we know: notes of seaweed and cut grass. Its infusion should be short, we recommend infusing its leaves several times to extract the maximum both in terms of taste and properties. For its preparation, we recommend infusing water at 70°C, infusions of 1 or 2 minutes, and 2-3g of leaves per cup. Multiple infusions with the same leaves as is done with pure, good teas, to be squeezed thoroughly. If you want to follow the Western infusion method, you can prepare the tea at 70°C for 4-5 minutes of infusion. Be careful, however, that it will be very intense and perhaps very bitter (that's why we prefer short and multiple infusions) The amount of caffeine is still high, so it can be an excellent tea for your morning, it will give you a remarkable charge and clarity.
