RUBY 18 SUN MOON LAKE, TAIWAN

Harvest 2023 Sun Moon Lake, Taiwan

Ruby 18 is the name of the cultivar of this black tea from the beautiful area of Sun Moon Lake, in the center of Taiwan.

It is a hybrid cultivar between a Burmese Assam camellia and a local Taiwanese one. Since its cultivation began in 1999, it has quickly gained appreciation from all over the world for its unmistakable notes of cinnamon, mint, and dark chocolate.

A long but successful endeavor. The Taiwan tea research center station took about 40 years to develop this cultivar, with the goal of expanding the offer of high-quality Taiwanese teas. Not only premium Oolong but also black tea. Its leaves are long and resemble the shapes of a Chinese dragon, just like some oolongs.

The black tea Ruby 18 is complicated to work with and cultivate, in addition to this, its demand in the market is constantly increasing, making it a highly sought-after tea and significantly raising its cost. For its preparation, we recommend using water with low mineral content, 90° extraction method Gong Fu Cha in gaiwan or Western method with 3-4 minutes of infusion.
