Gaiwan, also known as zhong, in Chinese porcelain.

The Gaiwan is a tea accessory that made its appearance during the Ming dynasty around 1350.

It is used as a teapot: water is poured inside and then the leaves are thrown in. The lid serves as a filter, to stop the leaves when pouring the liquid into a cup. The gaiwan is mainly used for the infusion of green, white, and black teas. Instead, for oolong and pu erh, Yixing teapots and cups are preferred. The size of the gaiwan allows the leaf to not be constrained by a filter and give its best.

The simplicity and elegance of this tea accessory reflect well the Chinese tea culture.

Gaiwan capacity 120 ml.
