ROASTED KUKICHA 3-YEAR-OLD KUKICHA

- Japanese Tea -

Origin: Japan, Kagoshima
Harvest 2024

The Organic Roasted Kukicha is a tea made exclusively from roasted Kukicha twigs, a Japanese green tea, whose leaves have been left on the plant for at least 3 years without being harvested. Thanks to this, the caffeine content is zero; macrobiotics have made it a tea for their diets and this is how this tea has become famous in the West. In addition to this advantage, the Organic Roasted Kukicha is a very interesting tea in taste, sweet, delicate, and slightly caramelized. Anyone can drink it in large quantities without fearing the sometimes unwanted effects of caffeine. The roasting process reduces the amount of antioxidant polyphenols, as highlighted in this study, but not by much, making roasted teas like Houjicha and Roasted Kukicha, still more antioxidants than Oolong and black teas.

But all Kukicha teas are teas with a high content of L-theanine, an amino acid with relaxing properties, which helps concentration and fights neurodegenerative diseases, as a molecule present mainly in twigs and shaded teas (kabuse).

Alternatively, try our Organic Kukicha Kabuse, with an herbaceous taste and a sweet chestnut aftertaste.
