SENCHA ASANOKA
Japan, Kirishima
Spring Harvest 2024
Sencha Asanoka is the top of the range among the Sencha available in the online Japanese green tea catalog of Terza Luna.
Cultivated in the Japanese province of Kirishima, this tea is harvested only once a year.
Its taste has a pronounced umami and notes of fresh grass and seaweed typical of high-quality Sencha.
ASANOKA CULTIVAR
The Asanoka cultivar is quite rare, born from the cross between Yabukita and a Chinese cultivar: Hiramizu.
Normally, these tea plants are harvested between mid and late March, and they are quite rich in amino acids (L-Theanine) from which we derive the umami taste. L-theanine is an amino acid naturally present in tea with studied relaxing and calming properties, which help concentration and balance the caffeine content, aiding in a focused yet relaxed attention.
HOW TO PREPARE A GOOD SENCHA GREEN TEA
For preparing Sencha green tea, we recommend:
- Water with low mineral content
- Temperature around 70°-80°
- Multiple infusions between 60’’ and 90’’
- 4g for 150-200ml
The guidelines we tend to give are never precise because we believe that tea preparation should be experimented with.
