On this page, you will find a highly sought-after selection of rare teas from around the world, strictly in leaf form, hand-picked, rich in beneficial properties for our body, and with a unique taste! You can choose from the freshest Darjeeling, Organic Matcha, Pu Erh Sheng Cha, Yunnan Vert, and many more.
For the most passionate tea connoisseurs, we have created this selection of rare and precious teas available for purchase online. These teas are unique products crafted by the skilled hands of the best tea masters from around the world, with refined taste and surprising aromas. It is no longer difficult to find high-quality rare teas: during our travels around the world, we have personally tasted and selected rare organic loose teas that are hard to find elsewhere!
For a long time, it was believed that the different qualities of tea came from different plants. In reality, although there are small variations, these teas belong to the same botanical species, Camellia Sinensis. The diversity and variations in types of tea are the result of different cultivation methods, climatic conditions, soil, and of course, different processing methods. It is easy to distinguish black tea from green tea, as they differ in the oxidation process, but what makes a tea rare and precious? There are several reasons why a tea is considered rare, which then translates into availability and cost: the most precious and expensive teas can be difficult to cultivate (some are grown at altitudes of 1200-1300 meters in the mountains), produced in limited quantities, require careful hand-picking of tea leaves, undergo special processing methods, and take time to perfect. For example, Pu Erh teas require years of fermentation to reach perfection, making them very rare!
Processing is certainly an important factor in determining tea quality, but a fundamental factor is the terroir, which plays a crucial role in developing the organoleptic notes and aromas of a precious tea; soil, altitude, climatic and weather conditions are all important influences in the development of tea leaves. There are teas where cultivation is carried out with careful processes that require labor and attention, such as the so-called kabuse teas, Japanese shaded teas, whose plants are covered with canopies to allow the development of important substances, making them particularly precious teas.
White tea is in itself a very precious and highly sought-after tea, produced from the collection of the youngest buds and the very first leaves with a silvery white color thanks to the downy fuzz that covers them. These rare teas undergo a completely natural fermentation, the leaves are allowed to wither in the sun and then dried. They are light, precious, delicate teas that absolutely must be savored in purity. On Terza Luna you can find Chinese white tea Ya Bao, a precious tea for sale online among the most unique, made of only the most precious buds, hand-picked one by one from wild plants that grow in Yunnan: it is a tea that improves over time, a factor that contributes to making it a rare tea, as it must wait to develop its flavors even for years before being sold. Among our precious white teas there is also the Silver Needle imperial, produced from the Camellia Taliensis, allowed to wither and then dried with hot air, a relative of the very expensive Yin Zhen tea. For those looking for the ultimate in white teas, we recommend the Bai Mu Dan Fuding, pressed into a cake shape, a precious white tea available online in our e-shop that can be consumed fresh or aged.
Green tea is the most consumed tea in China and Japan, so much so that in Japan when we talk about 'tea' we mean only green tea. It is Japan that has an extensive production of rare and precious teas, from organic crops whose leaves undergo special processing processes. Green tea is excellent for the body thanks to its numerous properties, antioxidants, and diuretics. These derive from the processing of green tea, an unoxidized or unfermented tea, thanks to processes that stop natural fermentation and destroy the enzymes responsible for it. This process preserves the essential substances and antioxidants present in the leaves. Among the rare and precious Japanese green teas, the place of honor goes to Gyokuro tea, the most expensive and refined green tea made with the best leaves of the plant, with a sweet and intense taste, and our precious Sencha first flush, from the Matsushita Tea Corporation, in the idyllic province of Kirishima, cultivated in a valley surrounded by mountains that protect the tea plants and result in a tea of rare value, among the rare teas online in our most appreciated e-shop.
Oolong teas are very special and rare in Europe, where they are not yet particularly well known. They are semi-fermented teas, a middle ground, in processing, between black teas and green teas. In this section of rare and precious teas online, you can buy oolong teas, also known as blue teas, of very high quality, whose fermentation is stopped before the leaf darkens completely, thanks to the experience and mastery of the best tea masters in the world, experts in recognizing how the percentage of oxidation changes the taste of the tea. Among our rare teas online, of particular value is the Dong Ding oolong tea, oxidized at 15%, produced in Taiwan, harvested in 2015, whose leaves undergo a light roasting process that gives a particular honey flavor. Also try our precious rock teas, such as the Rou Gui oolong tea, grown among the rocks of the Wuyi mountains, a natural reserve in the Fujian region, China, classified among the most precious teas grown in this area. In our premium selection, you must also try our Milky Oolong. Milky oolongs are rare oolong teas subjected to a special processing process in which the leaves are flavored with milk cream.
Pu Erh teas, or Puer, are the most consumed teas in China, and in this variety you can find precious teas with incredible flavor. Pu erh tea has always been considered a medicinal drink in Chinese tradition, thanks to its beneficial properties on the gastrointestinal system. It is a post-fermented tea, usually pressed into cylindrical or cake forms. This tea is often referred to as black tea, and is one of the rarest black teas, which in ancient times was even used as a trading commodity, among our most appreciated rare teas online. It is a tea that is aged, making it rare because the production times are extremely long, so the best Pu Erh teas will have a production date label, precisely because maturity enhances and improves the flavor just like a fine wine. On Terza Luna you can find for sale online the Sheng Cha Pu Erh tea, harvested in 2016, subjected to natural post-fermentation that allows the development of the microbial charge responsible for its properties. Finding a good Pu Erh tea is not easy, often you come across teas that taste like earth, processed incorrectly, of poor quality. This is why in our online shop of rare and precious teas we have chosen to select only the best Pu Erh teas, processed with wisdom, experience, and mastery.
Tea is considered, in the main producing countries, as a currency, or an elixir, and its popularity has grown over the years worldwide, giving rise to the creation of products that are not always of quality or certified. As great tea enthusiasts, we know the importance of careful cultivation, manual and traditional processing, and meticulous processes. During our travels in search of the best teas to import from every corner of the world and from the best existing tea gardens, we came across teas with extraordinary flavor and aroma: hence the birth of our line of rare and precious teas, collected for the most refined palates and for those who want to experience the most original tastes produced by the best plantations in the world: from Darjeeling teas, the champagne of teas, to Tie Guan Yin, an oolong tea that can be infused up to seven times before losing its flavor, explore our range of exclusive and precious teas and choose your favorite.
