ORGANIC SENCHA ASANOKA GREEN TEA

Harvested in mid-April 2024
Origin: Tanegashima Kagoshima
Organic farming
Tea master: Shunsaku Tanoue

An exceptional green Sencha tea harvested in end ofApril 2024 on the island of Tanegashima, a Shincha, as the first available harvests of these high-quality Japanese green teas are called. In fact, one of the first Shincha teas to arrive in Europe.

Among the many Sencha teas tasted this year from our Japanese suppliers, this Asanoka certainly stands out for its exquisite quality.
The Asanoka cultivar is quite difficult to find, less famous than the Yabukita, also because it is more recent, created in 1996 by crossing the Yabukita with a Chinese cultivar named Hiramizu #1 (平水1号) from Zhejiang.
This tea plant has an early leaf production, contains many amino acids, which we can taste in its flavor that combines sweetness and umami.

Like all green Sencha teas, this Asanoka is rich in mainly antioxidant properties, has a good caffeine content, never like coffee, and helps us stay alert and focused gently, without tachycardia or spikes.

This Sencha Asanoka comes from the Tanoue Seicha tea farm, tea growers for four generations. Shunsaku Tanoue, the tea master, studied tea industry at the Kagoshima Agriculture Department.
