What are cookies?

The word cookie (in English, "biscuit") refers to a file containing text strings sent from the server (hosting the website) to the client (the visitor's browser, e.g. Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox). This file stores information to be reused during the visit to the site (session) or later (even days later). Cookies are stored on the device from which the user visits the site (personal computer, smartphone, tablet).

Types of cookies

Strictly necessary or technical cookies: these are cookies essential for the functioning of the site, used to manage login, access to site functions, and the product purchase process.

Profiling cookies: these are permanent cookies used to identify (anonymously) user preferences. La Terza Luna does not use profiling cookies.

Third-party cookies

Third-party cookies come from external sites. Most of these cookies come from 'social networking' sites like Facebook, Twitter, Google+. La Terza Luna does not use 'social plugins', so this type of cookie is not stored on the user's device.

Google Analytics

La Terza Luna includes Google Analytics components, a web traffic statistics and analysis service provided by Google. In this case, these are third-party cookies collected and managed anonymously to analyze the usage information of this site. Google Analytics does not collect, nor allow third parties to collect, personal identification information.

Cookie duration

Some cookies (session cookies) remain active until the browser is closed or (for registered and 'logged in' users) until they log out. Other cookies remain active and are available in subsequent visits by the user. These cookies are defined as persistent, and their duration is set by the server at the time of creation. La Terza Luna uses persistent cookies to manage some technical aspects of orders (such as checking the time zone).
