KAGA BOUCHA

- Japanese Roasted Young Kukicha Tea-

Origin: Ishikawa province, Japan.
Harvest 2023

The Kaga Boucha tea is a slightly roasted green tea made only from the twigs of tea plants (Houjicha). Unlike other famous Japanese roasted teas, especially the 3-year roasted Kukicha, the Kaga Boucha tea is created using a special method (kept quite secret) that does not burn the twigs but "cooks" them from the inside.

The result is a cup of tea with notes of hazelnut, caramel, with a background of green tea. The liquid is particularly viscous and the cup takes on a remarkable consistency.
This slightly roasted kukicha is almost completely caffeine-free, as there is already no caffeine in the twigs of the plant. The roasting process removes the few remaining traces.

The Kaga Boucha is a very difficult tea to find on the market, Terza Luna is proud to offer it in its online shop of Japanese and non-Japanese teas. In Japan, it is considered a specialty, particularly appreciated for the delicate taste obtained with this tea.

KAGA BOUCHA

Kaga is the region from which this tea comes, Boucha (棒茶) instead means twig (棒) tea (茶).
It has been processed since the Meiji era (from October 23, 1868, to July 30, 1912) in the Ishikawa province.
Here, the tea masters of the Maeda clan devised this roasted green tea and still keep its processing secrets with a company and a foundation that spreads their culture.
