As the warm season approaches, the consumption of tea and herbal teas decreases, and we find ourselves with a pantry full of many teas and herbal teas that we don't feel like drinking and that will reappear in the fall. To easily consume them and not carry over winter residues, to always experiment with new methods and frontiers, we recommend having fun trying the COLD BREW method with the teas and herbal teas you still have in your pantry.
The Cold Brew method for tea and cold herbal teas consists of infusing in cold water (so be careful, do not heat the water) a quantity that varies depending on the tea or herbal tea chosen, between 10 and 15 grams per liter.
Once we have let our tea or herbal tea macerate, we let it rest in the fridge. If it is a tea, we let it macerate for an hour. After an hour, we taste it, and if we like the flavor, we filter and drink it; otherwise, we let it macerate for another half hour and taste it again until we find it to our liking. If it is an herbal tea, we can leave it to macerate for as long as we want, without the risk of it becoming bitter.
To prepare cold brew tea with the Cold Brew method, we recommend using a pitcher or a bottle with a wide mouth, like those for sauce. Yes, because it is more convenient to insert the tea or herbal tea directly into a disposable tea or herbal tea filter to taste without having fruit pieces or tea leaves floating. The most convenient thing is definitely our disposable tea and herbal tea bags. Cold brew - or cold maceration - is more delicate than hot infusion. It respects the delicate notes of many teas more, brings out flavors that you probably haven't tasted in winter infusions. It has the disadvantage of being less immediate than hot infusion, but in summer, you can afford to wait for a tea for 1 hour! Have fun trying your favorite teas and herbal teas in Cold Brew and enjoy your homemade cold tea.
