When you love tea, it often happens that the trips you take are tea trips. That's what happened with our journey between India and Nepal, where we had the opportunity to visit and spend a few days at the Makaibari tea estate in the Indian region of Darjeeling. A very beautiful and interesting experience because you can stay, thanks to the Makaibari homestay program, with the families who work in the huge plantation, visit the factory, and if you're lucky, meet the eclectic owner, Mr. Rajah Banerjee. What makes the Makaibari second flush a unique tea is definitely the love and harmony that reigns in the plantation, but above all the cultivation technique that follows the principles of biodynamics, I don't know any other biodynamic teas, so a unique opportunity to try!
The result is an excellent second flush which is a tea harvested after spring, towards summer, giving it a less floral and light character (characteristic of the 1st flush) making it more fruity and intense.
